This is a large span, post tensioned exposed concrete marvel that has glass and exposed bricks giving it a distinct and contemporary feel. The structure is composed of various cubical shapes arranged in a harmonious pattern. The elliptical shape of the glass atrium provides a contrast to the structure and intersecting the cubical built form to break the monotony. Large openings and the use of glass allows the natural light to illuminate the building during the day, reducing dependency on artificial lighting. Post tensioning allowed us to achieve a reduction in the building weight and hence a reduced foundation load. It also allowed us to have longer clear spans, thinner slabs, fewer beams and more slender, dramatic elements.
